Part of a series of presentations sponsored by Spalding University’s Diversity Consciousness Action Group, Interfaith Paths to Peace, and Thomas Jefferson Unitarian Church in Louisville. The sessions focus on the world’s great religions and the practices of that religion’s teachings related to compassion.

The speaker is Narjis Nichole Abdul-Majid, a part-time lecturer at the University of Louisville.  
She is currently conducting research in the areas of religion and hip-hop, religion in the environment, and African American Islamic history in addition to pursuing proficiency in Islamic tajweed  (recitation of the Islamic sacred text, the Qur'an) and Qur'an memorization.  
She has a M.A. in Religious Studies from the University of Louisville as well as several certificates from Islamic educational seminaries in the United States and England.
