Attend the Dissolution Ceremony for the Tibetan Sand Mandala at Bellarmine today at 11 am
On Monday 3rd December the Mandala will be on exhibit at the Thomas Merton Center at Bellarmine University from 8 am until the closing ceremony which begins at 11 am.
The closing ceremony takes place on Monday 3rd December at 11 am when the Mandala will be symbolically swept away and the sands carried down to Bear Grass Creek. The ceremony is accompanied by Buddhist chanting and traditional Buddhist musical instruments – horns, cymbals and other instruments.
After the Mandala is swept up the monks will process from the Merton Center down to Newburg Road and into Joe Creason park where the sands will be ritually cast into Bear Grass Creek symbolizing the compassion and mindfulness of their beautiful work spreading out through various bodies of water, spreading that compassion out from Bellarmine to the whole world.
Please join us on Monday for the closing ceremony.
